Google gives us digital dead sea scrolls

The ISRAEL Museum in Jerusalem is working with Google to put a digital versions of the Dead Sea Scrolls online giving more people the chance to read the documents in English.


The 20 documents make up the oldest biblical manuscripts in the world - experts say they're around 2,000 years old. 


The scrolls were discovered in a group of caves north east of the Dead Sea. They've been on display since 1966 at the Museum but visitors have been barred from viewing them because the papers are so delicate - more delicate than the skin of an onion!


The first seven scrolls are online already, including the Great Isaiah Scroll - the largest and most ancient biblical manuscript in existence. 


Others available are the War Scroll, Temple Scroll, and the Community Rule Scroll.
