Dipping into the world of broadcasting

It's not often that I get to pick up a camera and have a go at tackling the other side of journalism - broadcasting, but this past week we've had the chance to do just that.

This week as part of my PA course we had in Andrew Glover, an ex-BBC correspondent training us on how to film, edit and present the news.

It's been a great experience, if not gruelling, but well worth it. As we watched our final packages on Friday as a group it was amazing how far everyone had come, from technophobes to veteran film makers we had all put together a good piece of work - maybe not quite broadcastable yet but darn near it!

It wet everyone's appetite certainly and it definitely made me look at that side of journalism with a keener eye. It was not only fun, but working in images and writing for TV was an experience in itself - it's really different from my usual play with words.

So now having dabbled in the world of TV, do I dare dive in again? Maybe after I've quenched my thirst for the word!

Over and out.
